Describe what you need, pick a style, a mood and a format, and the plugin generates an image or a short video with your Clipwave account. The result is previewed in wp-admin and can be added to the Media Library in one click, or set straight away as the featured image of the post you are editing. **What you can generate** * Images (photorealistic, cinematic, 3D render, flat illustration, watercolour, bold graphic, minimal, retro print) and five kinds of logo marks, in 1:1, 16: 9, 9:16, 4:3 or 3:4, one to four variations at a time. * Short videos (cinematic, handheld UGC, product showcase, animated explainer, timelapse, aerial) of 4 to 15 seconds, 480p or 720p, with or without generated audio, in 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 or 21:9. **Where you use it** * **Media > Clipwave**: a full page to compose a brief, generate, preview and import. * **The editor**: a «Clipwave Video & Image Maker» box in the sidebar of posts and pages (any public post type with a featured image), with the option to set the result as featured image. **Before you start: a Clipwave account and credits are required** Generations run on Clipwave’s servers and are paid with Clipwave credits; there is no free tier through the API. You need an account on [clipwave.io](https://clipwave.io), credits on that account, and an API key created under Dashboard > API keys. At the time of writing an image costs 50 credits and a video costs from 404 credits (4 seconds, 480p) to 3,405 credits (15 seconds, 720p); the exact cost is shown on the Generate button before you spend anything. Credits and pricing are managed on clipwave. io, not in the plugin. The plugin itself is free software (GPLv2 or later) and every feature in it works with any Clipwave account that has credits. **How it works** 1. A site administrator pastes the API key under Settings > Clipwave. The key is stored in your WordPress database, shown masked, and can be removed at any time. 2. Any user who can upload files (Authors and above by default) opens Media > Clipwave or the editor box, describes the subject, chooses style, mood and format, and presses Generate. 3. Your server sends the brief to the Clipwave API, then checks the job every few seconds until it is complete. 4. The result is previewed. «Add to Media Library» downloads the file to your server and creates a regular attachment; for a post, «Set as featured image» does exactly that. Videos are imported as MP4 attachments when your site allows that file type; otherwise a download link is offered. Every result is also kept in your Clipwave dashboard, so nothing is lost if you close the page while a video is still rendering. ### External services This plugin is a client for the Clipwave API, a paid third-party service operated by Clipwave (https://clipwave.io). It is required for the plugin to do anything: without a Clipwave account, credits and an API key, no image or video can be generated. **Endpoint**: `https://clipwave.io/api/v1` (requests are made from your web server with the WordPress HTTP API, never from the visitor’s browser). Generated files are downloaded from `https://clipwave.io` (or from the storage Clipwave uses for a freshly finished job) when you press «Add to Media Library». **What is sent, and when** * When an administrator presses «Verify key» in Settings > Clipwave: the API key( as an Authorization header). Nothing else. * When a user presses «Generate»: the API key, the prompt composed from the brief( subject, style, mood, format), and the generation settings (aspect ratio, number of images, duration, resolution, audio on/off). * While a generation is running: the API key and the job id, every few seconds, until the job completes or fails. * When a user presses «Add to Media Library»: the API key and the job id, then a download of the generated file. No data about your site, its URL, its users, its content or its visitors is sent. Nothing is sent until an API key has been saved and a user explicitly performs one of the actions above. Upload the `clipwave-video-image-maker` folder to `/wp-content/plugins/`, or install it from Plugins > Add New. 2. Activate the plugin. 3. Create a Clipwave account and add credits on https://clipwave.io, then create an API key under Dashboard > API keys. 4. Go to Settings > Clipwave, paste the key and save. Press «Verify key» to confirm the connection. 5. Go to Media > Clipwave, or open the Clipwave box while editing a post, and generate. ## PMF ### Is the plugin free? The plugin is free and open source. The generations are not: they run on Clipwave and consume credits bought on clipwave.io. The cost of each generation is shown on the Generate button before you press it. ### Do I need an account? Yes. Generations are tied to a Clipwave account and its credits, and the plugin needs an API key from that account. There is no anonymous or trial use through the plugin. ### Where do the generated files end up? Where you decide. Results are previewed first; only when you press «Add to Media Library» is the file downloaded to your server’s uploads folder and registered as an attachment, like any other upload. Results also stay in your Clipwave dashboard. ### Can I set the result as featured image? Yes, from the Clipwave box in the editor of any post type that supports featured images: tick «Set as featured image» before pressing «Add to Media Library». Reload the editor to see it in the Featured image panel. ### Why did a video come back as a link instead of an attachment? Your site refused the MP4 file (for example because uploads of that type are disabled). The plugin then offers a download link from Clipwave so you can still save the file. ### Who can generate? Users with the `upload_files` capability (Authors, Editors and Administrators by default). Only administrators (`manage_options`) can see or change the API key. ### Which data is sent to Clipwave? Only what is needed to generate: the API key, the prompt built from your brief, the generation settings and the job id. See the «External services» section above. ### Is the API key stored securely?
