Smooth CWV Reports

Descripció

Smooth CWV Reports by Smooth Bundle requests Lighthouse tests through Google PageSpeed Insights on publicly accessible pages from your WordPress site.

  • Select pages using AJAX search by title or local URL.
  • View results grouped by page, including performance, accessibility, best practices, SEO, LCP and CLS.
  • Compare report history and inspect audit recommendations.
  • Open separate mobile and desktop PDFs prepared asynchronously by Smooth Bundle.
  • Store separate Lighthouse JSON results for each device. PDFs require Smooth Bundle.
  • Run tests manually, on a schedule, or after published content updates.
  • Exclude public content types from automatic tests on update.
  • Use the Smooth CWV admin toolbar to open reports or queue a test.

Tests on update are enabled by default. Drafts, private or password-protected content, revisions and autosaves are skipped.

Without a Smooth Bundle connection, reports stay in the WordPress database. Connecting automatically stores reports in a private Smooth Bundle project. Local report data is removed only after both cloud JSON files have been uploaded and verified. Report details then read their JSON from Smooth Bundle.

Lighthouse provides laboratory measurements. These results do not establish a real-user Core Web Vitals pass; TBT is not INP.

Opening Settings first detects browser-based WordPress Playground and displays a dedicated error without contacting Cloudflare. Other environments automatically check the site’s hostname through Cloudflare DNS over HTTPS at https://cloudflare-dns.com/dns-query, using A and AAAA queries as needed. This sends only the hostname and DNS record type, not page contents, URL paths, Google API keys or Smooth Bundle credentials. Cloudflare also receives the requesting network’s IP address. Literal IP addresses are checked locally without a DNS request. A missing public address displays an error notice; DNS service failures display an inconclusive warning. Finding a public address does not verify HTTP availability, authentication, firewall rules or split DNS. The check does not run outside Settings and does not block saving settings or queueing reports.

Google PageSpeed Insights runs the audits at https://pagespeedonline.googleapis.com/pagespeedonline/v5/runPagespeed. When you save your API key and run a manual test, enable a schedule, or update eligible content with tests on update enabled, the plugin sends the selected public page URL, device strategy, requested categories and your API key to Google. Google loads the page and its resources, and returns Lighthouse results including screenshots. The API key is stored server-side, not displayed back in Settings, and never sent to Smooth Bundle. Without a Google key, new tests cannot be queued.

The optional Smooth Bundle integration communicates with https://smoothbundle.com and https://api.smoothbundle.com during account or guest authorization, project setup, account usage checks, report upload and report retrieval. Cloud PDFs open through https://cdn.smoothbundle.com.

Depending on the action, the plugin sends your site URL and name, authorization data, account and project identifiers, the audited page URL, Lighthouse results including captured page screenshots, filenames, CWV metadata and asset protection settings. Smooth Bundle produces PDF versions from the uploaded JSON. New reports and existing local reports are uploaded automatically while connected. The project is private. Account storage and usage are subject to the selected Smooth Bundle plan.

Without a connection, the plugin does not upload reports to Smooth Bundle. Google performs the selected audit and loads page resources, including third-party resources used by the page.

Instal·lació

  1. Upload and extract the plugin into /wp-content/plugins/smooth-cwv-reports/, or install its ZIP through WordPress.
  2. Activate Smooth CWV Reports in WordPress.
  3. Create your own Google API key and enable the PageSpeed Insights API in that Google Cloud project: https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/v5/get-started
  4. Open Smooth CWV > Settings and save the API key. Google must be able to reach the site over the public internet; localhost and private development sites cannot be tested.
  5. Optionally connect your Smooth Bundle account or continue as a guest in Report storage to enable cloud storage and PDFs.
  6. Open Reports, select a page from the search suggestions, and run a test.

Background tests use WP-Cron; sites with low traffic should configure a server cron. Each report uses two consecutive Google API requests, mobile followed by desktop, in the same background job. Its status stays Running until both tests finish. API quota belongs to the user’s Google Cloud project.

PMF

Can I test other websites?

No. Tests are restricted to this WordPress site’s published, publicly browsable pages, posts, custom post types and homepage.

Is a Smooth Bundle account required?

No. JSON results and the WordPress report view work locally. PDFs require a Smooth Bundle connection. The optional connection supports account authorization and guest access, subject to Smooth Bundle limits.

Are local copies kept after cloud sync?

No. Successful, verified uploads remove local report data. Failed or incomplete uploads retain local data for retry. Disconnecting does not copy cloud reports back; reconnect the original account and project to access them.

How do PDFs open?

Smooth Bundle generates PDFs after receiving JSON with CWV metadata. They are available at the uploaded JSON URL with the extension changed to .pdf. Preparation takes time; opening a pending PDF shows a message to retry later without repeating the audit. Mobile and desktop PDFs open in separate tabs. A browser configured to download PDFs may download them instead. Private cloud PDFs require a browser session signed into the connected Smooth Bundle account. The plugin verifies its saved API key before redirecting to the cloud PDF.

Can I clear the report history?

Use Settings > Report logs > Clear all logs and confirm the dialog. This removes report history, queued tests, error logs and local report files. Settings and files already stored in Smooth Bundle are kept. Wait for active tests or syncs to finish before clearing.

What remains after deactivation?

Deactivation stops this plugin’s scheduled jobs while preserving settings and report history.
